In print since 2002, Chelcheragh (Chandelier) is a weekly publication for a younger audience, focusing on cultural and societal issues while using an informal tone, and in many instances even employing humor. The managing director of the magazine is Fereydoon Amoozadeh-Khalili. As a reformist magazine, Chelcheragh continues to support the symbols and individuals of the reformist movement, most notably Mohammad Khatami. In the winter of 2011, Chelcheragh was shut down after it was charged with publishing content that was “against public morals.” The magazine being shut down by the government was extremely troubling for a young audience who believed their voice was finally being heard and reflected through this publication. However, after one month the magazine’s suspension was terminated and Chelcheragh once again resumed publishing.
